Job summary

At Canvas, we believe Sunday should be the best part of a kid's week. The 9:15am Service Preschool Teacher helps make that happen — creating a safe, joyful, gospel-rooted space where children ages 2 through 5 encounter the love of Jesus through Bible teaching, play, prayer, and worship via video. This role is more than childcare; it's a front-row seat to kids coming alive in faith. You'll partner closely with parents and the Canvas Kids team to help the youngest members of our community feel known and loved every Sunday.

Responsibilities

  • Teach age-appropriate Bible lessons using Canvas Kids' approved curriculum.

  • Engage warmly with parents during drop-off and pick-up, especially children who have difficulty separating.

  • Must pass Canvas's background check and reference check.
  • Attend and engage in our 11:00am service regularly to maintain a sense of community across Canvas.

Qualifications

  • Mature Christian faith; must embrace Canvas's vision and have a gospel-centered heart for children and families in San Francisco.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience working with young children (ministry, classroom, nanny/babysitting, or similar setting).
  • Able to lead and take charge of a classroom; remain level-headed in a busy, high-energy environment.
  • Warm, engaging, and welcoming personality — especially with children who are shy or have difficulty separating from parents.
  • Strong communicator with parents and volunteers.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a true team player with integrity and good judgment.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs and remain on your feet for the duration of the shift.
